Garden Transformation Project in Kirkham

Creating a garden that looks impressive, feels practical, and stands the test of time always starts with the right groundwork. That was certainly the case with this recently completed project in Kirkham, where we carried out a full landscaping garden transformation involving aluminium fencing, artificial grass, a resin patio area, retaining walls, and feature lighting.

This was a substantial job that required careful planning from the outset. The existing garden had a number of issues that needed to be addressed before any new surfaces or features could be installed. There was old hedging to remove, failing retaining walls that had come to the end of their life, and large areas of the garden that needed to be fully excavated so that everything could be rebuilt properly from the ground up.

From the very beginning, the focus was on creating a clean, modern, and low maintenance outdoor space that would not only improve the appearance of the property, but also provide a more usable garden for the homeowner throughout the year. Every stage of the project was completed with durability, structure, and finish in mind.

Full Excavation and Site Preparation

As with many major landscaping projects, the most important work often takes place before the final finishes are even visible. In this Kirkham garden, we began by removing all existing hedging and taking out the failing retaining walls that were no longer fit for purpose. The rear garden areas were then fully excavated to allow us to reshape and prepare the site correctly.

This stage was essential because quality landscaping depends on solid preparation. Without the right excavation and base work, even the best materials can fail over time. By clearing the site fully and starting with a blank canvas, we were able to ensure that every new feature would be installed on a strong and reliable foundation.

New Retaining Walls for Strength and Structure

Once the excavation work had been completed, we moved on to installing new retaining walls. These walls were an important part of the overall design, helping to define the different garden areas while also providing the structural support needed across the space.

Retaining walls are often one of the most overlooked aspects of a garden transformation, yet they are vital when it comes to long term stability. In this project, the new walls created a much more secure and practical layout while also improving the appearance of the garden as a whole. They provided the structure needed for the next stages of the installation and helped bring a more polished and finished look to the entire outdoor area.

Aluminium Fencing and Gate Installation

With the main groundwork and retaining structures in place, we then began the installation of the aluminium fencing. This became one of the standout features of the completed project. In total, more than 40 sections of aluminium fencing were used, together with a matching aluminium gate.

Aluminium fencing is an excellent choice for modern garden design because it offers a sleek, contemporary appearance while also being strong, durable, and low maintenance. Unlike more traditional materials, it provides a crisp and clean finish that works especially well in outdoor spaces designed to look neat and modern.

The finished fencing helped frame the garden beautifully and added both privacy and definition to the property. Combined with the gate, it gave the entire project a coordinated and high quality finish.

Artificial Grass Installation on a Large Scale

Another major part of this Kirkham project was the installation of a large artificial grass area measuring around 170 square metres. For a surface of this size, preparation was especially important.

To create the right base, we installed around 30 tonnes of Type 1 MOT sub base. This ensured the area had the strength and stability needed to support the artificial grass properly and achieve a long lasting result. A well prepared sub base is crucial for maintaining an even surface, good drainage, and overall durability, particularly on larger installations.

The artificial grass has transformed the space into a practical and attractive area that can be enjoyed in all seasons. It offers the appearance of a fresh lawn without the ongoing maintenance associated with natural grass, making it ideal for homeowners who want a smart finish with less upkeep.

Resin Patio Area and LED Lighting

To complete the garden transformation, we also installed a resin patio area and surround. Resin is a popular choice for patios because of its smooth finish, modern appearance, and hard wearing qualities. It creates a clean and stylish outdoor surface that complements both traditional and contemporary properties.

In this project, the resin patio worked perfectly alongside the aluminium fencing and artificial grass, helping to tie the entire design together. The result is a garden that feels well balanced, functional, and visually striking.

A further finishing touch came with the addition of LED lighting framing the artificial grassed area. This detail helped lift the overall look of the garden even further, adding definition and atmosphere once daylight fades. Feature lighting can make a huge difference to an outdoor space, and in this case it gave the project an extra level of quality and a more premium finish.
